7 Top Tips For A Romantic Valentine’s Day

St Valentine’s Day, Patron Saint of Lovers, is always celebrated on February 14th so there’s no excuse for forgetting. This year (2008) it falls on a Thursday.

To help you turn the day – or the evening - into a fabulous experience we’ve compiled 7 top tips for a romantic Valentine’s Day.

I hope it gives you some ideas of how to inject some magic into this romantic date.

1. Traditional Valentine’s Day “gift package” - a card, flowers and a romantic dinner at home or in a romantic restaurant. Although hardly original it is a popular gift and usually well received
2. Dining out – a great opportunity to enjoy a relaxing time together. However, remember to book early. It’s a popular date, so you need to make dinner reservations well in advance because everyone else will have done!
3. Flowers - red roses are the traditional choice but can be expensive. You could send some romantic Valentines balloons or a Valentine teddy bear for a change
4. Proposing on Valentine’s Day? Check out our wedding proposal ideas
5. Jewellery is the ultimate romantic gift to show commitment – so it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day (even if you’re not proposing)
6. Lingerie, chocolates, teddy bears or a personal Valentine’s message in the paper are also traditional favourites
7. Dare to forget any or all of the above and be original and do something different for Valentine’s Day! If you’re a man looking for a Valentine’s gift for your wife or girlfriend - check out our Man’s Guide to Buying Great Gifts for Women for more ideas!
