It’s easy to turn a lovely gift into an amazing gift on Mother’s Day – just make it personal.
Flowers are a favourite on Mother’s Day. But instead of just ordering a standard bouquet, ask the florist to use your mum’s favourite flowers or to include her favourite colours in the bouquet.
You could even choose your mum’s birth month flower – just like gemstones, each month has it’s own birth flower – and include those in the arrangement. (see at the end of the post for details)
Or, if you’re feeling really adventurous, why not try to find a rose that has your mum’s name – or have a rose bush named after her?
Keepsakes are also great gifts on Mother’s Day, especially for mums with young children. Mother’s Day teddies; photos of the kids applied to anything from a coffee mug to a mouse mat; Mother’s Day helium balloons; personalised chocolates – you could probably go on for ever.
I have to admit, I use the ‘I love you Mum’ mug, which the children bought me last year for Mother’s Day, every day.

I agree, that personalizing a present makes it all the more special.
I remember the time my husband had my two kids pictures put on a t-shirt. That was such a nice gift.
There are so many ways to personalize a gift – like you’ve mentioned – use their favorite colors, favorites scents when buying a candle, buy a gift basket filled with items they would like. The important thing is to put some thought into the gift and it will show.
