Sesame Street Ernie

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Ernie, the outgoing foil to the more serious and responsible Bert, is great at explaining things, but can sometimes be a bit too smart for his own good.

He is well known for his fondness for baths with his Rubber duck and for having trouble trying to learn to play the saxophone because he would not “put down the duckie.” The Rubber Ducky song is well known throughout the world.

Ernie talks himself into some tight corners, and often falls prey to his own jokes, yet his free-spirited approach to his successes and failures makes him one of Sesame Street’s most enduring and likeable characters.

Bert is not always a willing participant in Ernie’s adventures as he knows he will end up with the short end of the stick. In the end, however, Bert always forgives Ernie, forever remaining his “old buddy.”

Sesame Street Big Bird

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

Continuing our short biographies of Sesame Street characters, we’re introducing Big Bird – a personal favourite.

Big Bird – sometimes referred to as bird by his friends, is an 8’2″ tall 6-year-old yellow bird. Children understand and identify with Big Bird’s excitement over new things as well as his disappointment when things don’t work out or when he makes mistakes. They also see his willingness to try again, to correct his mistakes and just by being persistent, find solutions to problems.

New Sesame Street Elmo

Monday, October 15th, 2007

When our range of new Sesame Street soft toys arrived last week, I have to admit that although I found the soft toys fun and colourful, I didn’t know much about the Sesame Street Muppets.

Tickled by curiosity, I have done my research and got to know this friendly bunch a little better. Let’s start with Elmo – a long-standing Sesame Street favourite.
